Overview

The trip begins from Kathmandu and we drive to 30km south of the Kathmandu valley by traversing the famous Chovar gorge and Jal Binayak Temple. (The legend from Showyambhu Purana says that the valley was once a lake and great Buddhist saint Manjushree from China came to Kathmandu and cut the Chhovar George with his magic sword Chandahasa and drained the water. Centuries later Gwalas-cow herder from India came with lord Krishna to settle in the valley in Dwapara Yuga). After short visit of the site, we proceed towards our main destination by passing the famous Taudaha Lake on left hand side (again legend explains all the snakes of the valley were told to stay in this pond after the drainage of the water by Manjushree).

We arrive in the parking of the Daksinkali temple and proceed through the long queue of the devotees with cock, goats and Coconut offering to sacrifice in the temple. Tourists are allowed to avoid such long queue, as they are not going to offer any animal sacrifice. On arrival, there is a platform from where tourist can observe the proceeding and offerings but not allowed to enter the main sanctum, as it is restricted only for Hindus.

After an hour long observation or less if you don’t really interest to see these religious functions, we walk towards the Pharping village where Great Buddhist Guru Rimpoche has been enlighten during 7th century on a rocky cave where many monasteries has been built since the vague of Tibetan refugees from Tibet came during early sixties.
We take our day lunch at a small Tibetan Restaurant situated nearby road and finally come back to visit Historical and cultural city of Newari Town Kirtipur. The city is famous for ferocious battle with the great king Prithvi Narayan Shah of Gurkha during mid eighteenth Century and most to see temple of Uma Maheswora where one can see the finest wood craftsmanship of Nepalese art. The view of the Kathmandu Valley is stunning as the white snow capped mountain in the background.
