Overview

This is the introductory trek for the beginners as well as suitable for the families with young kids and aged hiker. Apart from few places, such as Phulchoki Hill and Nagarkot to Kasi Bhanjyang we follow always mountain biking trail in this trek, which is built in recent years by local government initiative to connect villages through the agricultural roads to bring Agro-product to the main market in Kathmandu.

You do not need to climb up to the base camp to see the towering snowy peaks, but this trek provide opportunity to see all these being within the valley Rim. The trek also offers great mountain views, sunrise views within an altitude of around 2000 meters and again big opportunity to discover cultural diversities of various ethnic community of Nepal.

Itinerary

Accommodation Hotel in Kathmandu.

Arrival in the Airport, welcome and transfer to your Hotel in Kathmandu. If the time permits visit Showyambhunath stoup. Briefing on the trekking program with your main guide.
– Overnight at Hotel in Kathmandu.
– Hotel Accommodation on twin sharing basis with Breakfast and welcome diner included.

Preparation of the trek and visit WHS of the Kathmandu (Kathmandu Durbar Squares, Holy Pashupatinath Temple & Baudhanath Stupa).

Accommodation At Shivapuri Farmhouse

An hour drive from Kathmandu to Kakani hilltop village, which is located 25km on the way to Trisuli-Tibet route. We begin our first day of the trek towards east of Kakani village to the direction of the Shivapuri National Park. The views from Kakani to the north are Langtang Himalayas and Ganesh Himalayas ranges. We walk on the relatively easy and blacktopped road up to the Nepal police training centre and British Holidays camp and climb up to the Nepal Scout training Centre of Kakani. From this place, we pass trough the biking trail to the Gurje and finally reach the Shivapuri Farm House.

Accommodation At Chisopani

Today we walk through the ethnic village settlements and slide climbing reach to the top of the Chisopani Village. This village is situated in a hilltop from where one can see mighty Himalayan ranges from Dorje Lakpa to the Everest. The village is the meeting point of all direction from Sundarijal, Shivapuri, Gosaikund and Nagarkot.

Accommodation Hotel at Nagarkot

Wake-up early morning to see the first ray of the rising sun from the east and gradually appears the mountain views of northern and eastern Himalayas including Dorje Lhakpa, Gaurishanker, Choyou and Mr Everest. We take our breakfast and trek down to the Jhule passing through the Manichur lek forested roads. We trek down again up to the Jarsing pauwa where we take some rest and tea break. The surrounding villages are the tamang settlement, which is one of the major ethnic communities of Nepal. After this place, the trail is very flat and straight up to the Kartikke Bhanjyang where we take our day lunch in a Sherpa Restaurant. After lunch, it takes around 1h slide climb up to the Nagarkot Hill Station where we spend overnight in a Hotel situated on the hilltop.

Accommodation Hotel at Dhulikhel

Today we will pass three small passes ranging from 1700m to 2000m to reach the Dhulikhel Town. We cross many farmlands with many villages of different communities such as Newar, Brahmin, Chhetris and tamang ethnic groups. Dhulikhel is also very popular holiday destination with splendid mountain views and green and serene environment.

Accommodation Hotel at Nagarkot

After break fast in the hotel at Dhulikhel, we walk through the well paved stairs and arrive in the middle of the climb where a big statute of Buddha appear on a small hilltop, take some rest, photos, we proceed to the top of the Dhulkhel at Kali temple from where we can see eastern Himalayan ranges and Langtang Lirung on north and Banepa and Dhulikhel Valley on west. We descend to the Kavre Bhanjyang and follow the Namobuddha road few meters and take the village trail where we can observe local villager’s daily lifestyle of tamang communities. We arrive on Namobuddha for the lunch and explore Trangu Tashi Gonpa- a beautiful and giant Kagu Monastery and some holy places around on the hilltop.

Accommodation Hotel at Panauti

Today we walk down through the picturesque farmlands while traversing beautiful villages. We cross the Panauti (Roshi) River through a suspension bridge and arrive at big plot of farmland named Thuli chaure and famous hilltop Balthali for lunch. From Balthali , we can see spectaculars views of the Himalayas and traditional villages of Brahmin, Chhetri and Newar communities. After lunch, we walk to the Panauti via Khopasi. Allocation of Hotel rooms and after small tea/coffees, we will visit Panauti Towns Tribeni Dham where many newly renovated medieval temples, Ghats such as Indreswor Mahadev temple and other Hindu related monuments are located. This site was recently renovated through the aide of French Embassy, Kathmandu.

Accommodation Hotel at Lakuri Bhanjyang

Today, we take alternative road to Kathmandu from Panauti, which is not yet completed, but few trucks and jeeps are circulated. Again we pass through the beautiful villages terraced farmlands. First half of the trail is very busy trail with many villagers working on their fields, school children going to their schools, a vendor going to Panauti to sell vegetables, fruits and milk etc. Second half is relatively calm as there are few houses and it climbs firmly up to the height of 1985m at Lakuri Bhanjyang. We will stay in local people home as guest in Tamang families where you can observe their daily lifestyle. There are so many open fields on the top for picnic as it is waiting to build Hotel Resorts in near future. The view of Bhaktapur, Patan & Kathmandu valley along with white snow capped mountain on the backdrop is very picturesque. There are also some luxurious Hotel/Resorts available on this hilltop.

Accommodation Hotel at Kathmandu

We walk through the northeast ridge of Godavari-Phulchoki Hill while traversing many Rhododendrons and pine forest. After 3hrs walking through the forested ridge, we will reach on the top of the Phulchoki Hill Station 2768m which is the highest mountain of the trek. It is ideal location to see from Annapurna of the west to Everest in the east. You can also see the Mahabharat Lekh on south of the hill. There is a Hindu Temple and some Military personnel stationed to protect Telecom installations. We will take our packed lunch on the top as there is no Hotel or eateries facilities are available there.

Finally, we trek down to Godavari Botanical Garden through the southwest ridge but if you wish we can trek down through the gravelled road, which is built to transport telecom equipments and military personnel to the top. It takes an hour to reach Godavari for afternoon snacks. We will also organize a small farewell to our porters and sherpas who trekked carrying our luggage during the whole trek. We leave them exchanging very beautiful memories of the trip promising them to meet again for a similar trip/trek in Nepal. Drive back to Kathmandu and trek concludes.
